What is Music Therapy?
Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based application of music to cognitive, sensory, and motor dysfunctions.
It is an established healthcare profession using music as a medium to attain the goals of each individual. Music therapists
use treatment techniques that are directed towards functional therapeutic goals to address the needs of individuals of all
ages.
What Do Music Therapists Do?
- Assess physical health, social functioning, cognitive skills, communication abilities and overall emotional well-being
through musical responses;
- Plan sessions that are based on client needs and promote successful musical experiences;
- Participate as an active member of treament planning;
- Evaluate progress continuously;
- Modify & Adapt goals and treatment as needed
